Bird Paradise & Wildlife Park Langkawi

Langkawi Wildlife Park & Bird Paradise is located at Jalan Ayer Hangat and about ten minutes from Kuah, Langkawi. This complex is a tropical garden with over 2,500 exotic birds from 150 species such as canaries, owls, eagles, toucans, hornbills and flamingos. Approximately 1,500 birds in this place are freely fly around the complex. The Langkawi Bird Paradise is the first fully covered wildlife park in Asia. Within the complex are a cool souvenir store and a gallery houses a display of rare crafted and raw crystal ornaments from Brazil and China.

Wildlife Park and Bird Paradise featured mainly aviaries with different species of birds. Other than birds there are also other species of mammals and reptiles exhibited here. There are over 150 different species of animals and birds from all over the worlds including Africa, South East Asia, Africa, South America, Autralia, Russia and Malaysia.

This wildlife park is the first fully covered in Asia where it as roofed and covered walkaways all the way from the entry until the exit. Because of that Visitors can come anytime from 8:30am - 6:30pm everyday although it is raining or shine at the outside.

The most interesting about this park is the visitors can close interact with those birds and animals. There are feeding sessions with the animals and birds where the visitors are allowed to feed them by hand. There are stall inside the park where you can buy animals and bird food at a cheap price (RM6 per bag).

Once the visitors  buy the ticket at the counter, then they will go through the entrance they will be accompanied with several internal guides who are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As long as the visitors inside the park the guide are able to guide without any additional service charge.

The guide will explain you about each of the exhibits, their behavior, feeding habits and others related with those animals and birds.

The first section visitors will spot is The Blue & Gold Macaw, The Palm Cockatoos and Flamingos. The Macaws love be fed by sunflower seeds and peanuts while the Flamingos love to eat fish pallets.

Next section you will find a pond full of mandarin ducks playing around where you can hand feed them. After that, there are crocodile and the Pheasants sections. The crocodile here is relatively small because inhabit in salt water mixed with fresh water river. Then there is a beautiful peacock and yellow & silver pheasants playing around. Some of this birds will come close and approach your hand seeking fo food without harming your hand with their beak.  

The next sections you will seek is the Mammals section. You will find a beautiful orchid Garden full of white and other colorful orchids. There are really cute and tame raccoons that will come close to you asking for food. This species is not available in Malaysia and only can be found in tempered forest. Besides that there are also threatened population that can be found here such as bear cats. Other than those mammals, there are rabbits and guinea pigs that will make your child excited to hold and play with it.

Next you will find the  main section within this park which is The Walk-In Aviary. This section is a full house of a small colourful birds known as Budgerigars. This cute birds are freely flying around and some are been kept in the aviaries. Hold out some mullets seeds and they will come and sit right on your hand and feed directly from your palm. These birds are really tame, that a lot of them will come on your hand at the same time.

Next is a feeding section. Here the  visitors will experience porcupine feeding, ostrich feeding, arapaima feeding, monkey feeding, etc. Rather than feeding the animals sessions here there are Crystal Gallery. This outlet sells fine crafted crystals and jewelry from China and Brazil. 

Next section is Predator Birds which is birds like vultures from South Aftrica, Brahminy Kites from South East Asia and the White Bellied Sea Eagles from Langkawi Kilim Geo-forest Park. There are photography sessions with these huge birds, where the guide or photographer will provide a hand glove to avoid your hand been gripped by their claws. Visitors also been allowed to use their own camera to capture their picture with these birds. There are also reptiles like snakes here for the visitors to make a photo with it. The last section at this Park is a Duty Free Shopping Complex.

There are a restaurant called Brahminy Kite Cafe that serves snacks and full meals. Some famous local food that are available at these restaurants are Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice, Sandwich and many more.
